The beetles weevils (Coleoptera, Curculionoidea) of the Vyatka-Kama interfluve: fauna, distribution, ecology. Izhevsk:
Udmurt University, 340 p. (In Russian)
SUMMARY
The fauna of family Curculionoidea at the area between Vjatka and Kama rivers (Vyatka-Kama interfluve (VKI)) was studied. This is the nature region, located in the east of European Russia in the zone between the middle taiga to the border with forest-steppe.As a result of long-term research in this area were recorded 531 species from 7 families of Curculionoidea (except Scolytidae). Curculionidae ( species) and Brentidae (87 species) are dominated by species diversity.
The fauna of the VKI was studied with a high degree of completeness (90-95%). For number of species were significantly expanded the knowledge of their areals. Four of them (Hypera fornicata, Squamapion origani, Datonychus derennei and Isochnus angustifrons) were unknown in the fauna of Russia to the present study. Two species (Miarus atricolor and Ranunculiphilus ?inclemens) were first discovered in Europe. Habitation of North Asian species Dorytomus amplipennis was reliably established in Europe for the first time. Catapion meieri, Tanysphyrus ater, Bagous brevis and Cleopomiarus plantarum were discovered for the first time in the east of European Russia.
Substantiate existence of particular species from Ceutorhynchus typhae group, trophically related with winter cress (Barbarea). Species autonomy was proved for Aspidapion chalceus и Orchestes calceatus.
In addition, there are a number of forms (Perapion oblongum, Limnobaris atriplicis, Ceutorynchus figuratus, Anthonomus humeralis, Phyllobius fessus), taxonomic rank which there can not be determined accurately. For the final solution to these problems requires a serial environmental material, and in some cases the use of genetic analysis.
Zoogeographical structure of the fauna is complicated, that is the result of a long history of the formation of the biota of VKI.
Features of the identity of fauna in the region are in contacts of areals of West Palearctik and North Asian elements (Dorytomus amplipennis, Ranunculiphilus inclemens, Ceutorhynchus robustus, Miarus atricolor, Phyllobius crassipes), as well as in the presence of Eastern European species (Larinus ruber, Microplontus mirabilis, Otiorhynchus scopularis, Phyllobius dahli, Barypeithes lebedevi, Urometopus nemorum).
Zonal-landscape structure of fauna are also original. Despite the fact that the VKI is located in the forest zone, it has a large number of Subboreal (forest-steppe and nemoral) species (120 species, 23% of the fauna). These facts are a consequence of a pronounced historical and contemporary influence of forest-steppe extrazonal type on the southern part of the VKI.
